Eli Lilly on Thursday announced plans to lay off 340 of its 1350 information
technology workers by the end of the year

The company said that of that number, it has already cut 140 jobs through retirements, resignations and a previous round of layoffs.
The cuts, 115 of which the company said will occur later this month, are part of the drugmaker's previously announced plan to cut its workforce by 5500 by the end of 2011 to save $1 billion
