Sanofi-aventis on Thursday announced that the FDA approved a new one-vial formulation of Taxotere.

The 1-vial Taxotere is expected to be available in the fall.

Taxotere was previously available to healthcare professionals in a two-vial formulation, one vial containing docetaxel concentrate and the other a diluent.

The new 1-vial Taxotere eliminates the need for the dilution step, noted the drugmaker.

Taxotere had sales of 1.129billion euros in the first half of 2010.
