Novo Nordisk reported

Wednesday that the company received a subpoena from US regulators "regarding potential criminal offences" related to the marketing of NovoLog (insulin aspart rDNA origin), Levemir (insulin detemir), and Victoza (liraglutide).

The drugmaker noted that the Attorney for the District of Massachusetts requested "the production of documents regarding…the company's marketing and promotion practices" for the diabetes products.

Novo Nordisk indicated that it would cooperate with the investigation, adding that it "cannot determine or predict the outcome of this matter or assess the consequences.

" Moreover, the company noted that it could not predict the duration of the investigation.

Victoza, a once-daily GLP-1 analogue, was approved last year by the FDA as a treatment for some adults with type 2 diabetes.
