Final draft guidance published Friday by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence confirmed an earlier recommendation supporting NHS reimbursement of Eli Lilly, Amylin and Alkermes' Bydureon (extended-release exenatide) for certain people with type 2 diabetes.

The agency said the once-weekly GLP-1 receptor agonist could be given in combination with certain other drugs in obese patients with a body mass index above 35, or those for whom insulin injections wouldn't be suitable.
